En la pasada edición del Shock The World Tour 2011 Ciudad de México, RVLRY tuvo la oportunidad de cruzar algunas palabras con los chicos de la banda noruega, Casiokids, quienes compartieron con nosotros sus sentimientos acerca de como era estar en México, de finalmente trabajar con Casio, y como fue que terminaron cantando "Who Let Dogs Out?" en un karaoke. RVLRY: Ok guys so first of all, it’s a real big pleasure to be making this interview, ‘cuz you’ve come all the way down from Norway to Mexico, and it’s awesome because, you, The Casiokids are here to perform at the Casio G-Shock STWMX 2011, so it’s kind of a real big deal to have you here, so please tell us, how does it feel being here in Mexico, and to be performing at this huge event (STWMX11)?
Ok chicos primero que nada, es un gran placer estar hacienda está entrevista, especialmente porque viene desde Noruega, hasta México, y no solo eso, sino que ustedes los Casiokids, están aquí para tocar en Casio G-Shock STWMX 2011, entonces es algo como muy grande, entonces por favor, dígannos; ¿qué se siente estar en México, y estar a punto de tocar en este gran evento (el STWMX11)?
Casiokids: It’s great, we love the country already, it’s our first time here, and it’s a perfect opportunity to work at least with Casio, because we’ve been wanting to do that for a long time, we’re really happy we got invited.
Es grandioso, ya nos encanta la ciudad, es nuestra primera vez aquí, y es una perfecta oportunidad para trabajar al fin con Casio, porque hemos querido hacerlo desde hace ya un buen rato, estamos muy felices de que nos hayan invitado.
RV: Ok I really have to ask this, does your name really comes from the company, Casio?
Ok de verdad tengo que preguntarles esto, ¿Su nombre de verdad viene de Casio, la compañía?
CK: Yes, that’s because Casio makes these great and funny keyboards, and that, was our very first instrument, actually that was when we were kids.
Si, es porqué Casio hace estos geniales y divertidos teclados, y pues, fue nuestro primer instrumentos, de hecho eso fue cuando niños.
RV: So you’re talking about the ones with colors and all this funny ads?
¿Hablas de esos teclados con muchos colores y anuncios divertidos?
CK: Yes, they are easy to use, super fun, and as we’ve grown and played with other bands we’ve learned we are not the only ones with these instruments.
Sí, son súper fáciles de usar, súper divertidos, y mientras hemos crecido y tocado con otras bandas hemos visto que no somos los únicos con este tipo de instrumentos.
RV: That’s great, like you’re having something not to complex and then you’re here in Mexico at the STW, did you guys ever thought about that?
Eso es fantástico, porque no es algo tan complejo, y de pronto están en México en el Shock The World, ¿Alguna vez pensaron en eso?
CK: (Laughs) We definitively never thought about it, but lately we’ve realized how great it was making that, and now we’re here in Mexico after a long, long trip.
(Risas) Definitivamente nunca lo pensamos, pero últimamente nos damos cuenta de que genial fue haberlo hecho, y pues ahora estamos en México después de un larguísimo viaje.
RV: How long was your flight?
¿Cuánto duró su vuelo?
CK: It was like sixteen hours, maybe more, because first you’ve got to go to Amsterdam, and then you take this plane to a whole other continent, and that is really inspiring, but at the same time really stressing, like you feel tired.
Cerca de dieciséis horas, tal vez más, es que primero debes ir a Ámsterdam, y de ahí tomas el avión para el otro continente, y eso es algo muy inspirador pero a la vez, estresante, pero de cansancio.
RV: But you’re finally here, so about Mexico, What it is, what you’ve like the most? The food, the girls, the drinks?
Pero finalmente están aquí, y hablando de México, ¿Qué es, lo que más les ha gustado? La comida, las chicas, los tragos?
CK: Maybe a mix of everything, actually we just celebrated our bass player’s birthday, Fredrik, that was yesterday, and it was super fun, we had tequilas, and we sang karaoke
Tal vez una mezcla de todo, de hecho ayer celebramos el cumpleaños de Fredrik nuestros bajista, eso fue ayer, y fue súper divertido, tomamos tequila, cantamos karaoke
RV: Really?
¿En Serio?
CK: Yeah, we sang some beautiful tunes, something like: “Who let the dogs out?” So maybe that’s already on Youtube, I guess, but that’d be embarrassing. (laughs)
Sé, cantamos unas hermosas canciones, algo así como “Who let the dogs out?” Así que eso igual ya está en Youtube, creo, aunque eso sería embarazoso. (Risas)
RV: Talking about, other songs, are you planning to play any covers during the show?
Bueno, ya hablando de otras canciones, planean interpreter algún cover durante su show está noche?
CK: Ah, no, not really, I mean, we’re not going to do it tonight, but like, we have our own versions of this and that song, but mostly, remixes, or, we like to re-record the song, we change the lyrics, we do the translation, and we make it from English to our own language.
Ah, no, no realmente, es decir, no lo haremos esta noche, pero por ejemplo, tenemos neustras propias versions de esta y otra canción, pero principalmente hacemos remixes, nos gusta regrabar la canción, cambiar las letras, traducirlas, y entonces las pasamos de inglés a nuestro propio idioma.
RV: Hey that’s great, because most of the artists who don’t have a lot of records, they play a few covers on their shows, and people sometimes gets bummed about that, not that they don’t like it, but like, they go to see an artist performing their own music, not someone else’s (music).
Hey eso es genial, porque muchos artistas que no tienen tantos discos, tocan algunos covers en sus presentacones, y la gente a veces se molesta con ello, no porque no les agrada, sino porque esperan ver el trabajo propip de artista, no el de alguien más.
RV: But changing the topic a little, because we don’t have a lot of time, you’ve got to get ready to play and stuff, tell me please, wich is your Casio favorite product?
Pero, cambiando un poco de tema porque no tenemos mucho tiempo, ustedes tienen que prepararse para tocar y todo esto, díganme por favor, ¿Cuál es su producto favorito de Casio?
Kjetil Bjøreid Aabø -I’m thinking about a mix of a G-Shock and a keyboard dude, that’d be really sick, imagine, your alarm it’s like a nice beat.
-Yo estoy pensando en una mezcla de un G-Shock y un teclado, Viejo, eso sería enfermo, imagínate, tu alarma sería un beat muy chido. (Risas)
Ketil Kinden Endresen -For me it’s this calculator, I’ve been using lately, is because I’m studying and I use this Classpad, wich is supergood, it’s economics, and trigonometric, and it has graphics so that one, is super good.
-Para mi es esta calculadora, la he usado ultimamente porque estoy estudiando, y entonces uso esta Classpad, es súper buena, es para economía, trigonometría, tiene gráficos, buenísima.
Fredrik Øgreid Vogsborg -The keyboards, just that, they’re great, specially this new one that has some sick alla DJ stuff, I love it.
-Los teclados, solo eso, son geniales, especialmente este nuevo que tiene cosas muy de DJ, me encanta.
CK -The keyboards as well, specially because that’s the reason we have this band. So yeah that.
-Los teclados también, especialmente porque es la razón por la que creamos la banda. Así, que sé, eso sería.
Omar Johnsen -For me, is also the keyboards, but I also think in this classic Casio bezel I had when I was a little kid, it was metallic one, very nice, like simple, but the same time very classy.
-Para mi, son también los teclados, pero también pienso en este reloj Casio que tenpia cuando era niño, era uno metálico, muy bonito, simple, pero a la vez, muy elegante.
